UPDATE: November 17, 2008 --
You and yours are cordially invited to "A Concert of Small Bowls"
on November 29th and 30th in our Studio/Gallery, featuring more than
50 new pieces. Please click here to see a page of photos.
Looking for the perfect wedding/house-warming/hostess gift? Check out the functional bowls that are typical of what I have in stock at any given time. All are finished with several coats of pure tung oil and then Clapham's Salad Bowl finish, a mix of food-grade beeswax and mineral oil, and a jar is included with each one. My
decorative vessels page shows typical hollow pieces suitable for dry arrangements only ... please
email me for currently available pieces.
Yamanaka, Japan
Our trip to Japan in February 2005 was sponsored by the Yamanaka Lacquerware group that has visited Salt Spring several times in the last few years. We were treated like royalty, staying in the finest hotels, and every meal was a feast or banquet. There was a wonderful joint exhibition of work from Yamanaka and Salt Spring at the new Basho Pavillion there, and visits to many impressive studios. A real highlight was our stay with the Satake family, who welcomed us warmly into their home for too-short a visit. A complete report, with photos, will be posted soon.
Studio/Gallery Reno
Finished at last! We are very happy and proud of this new display space that shows our work to best advantage. But don't take my word for it -- come by for a visit. We are #22 on the Studio Tour this year. Maps are available on the Ferries coming to Salt Spring and from the Chamber of Commerce Info Centre in Ganges.
